Nissan Patrol (1997-2015) GU Cab Chassis Coil/Leaf 12/1997-2015 Tough Dog FS38M-LH Tough Dog Rear Leaf Spring
TD-FS38M-LH
Leaf springs represent one of the most enduring suspension designs in automotive history, maintaining their relevance particularly in commercial vehicles due to their exceptional load-bearing capabilities.
Engineered in Australia, Tough Dog progressive rate leaf springs incorporate both primary and secondary stage leaves, ensuring that the vehicle's ride quality remains uncompromised under varying load conditions. As the spring compresses, the secondary stage engages to mitigate excessive sag, providing a balanced ride even when fully loaded.
The manufacturing process of these leaf springs emphasizes durability, featuring advanced corrosion protection and sag prevention techniques. Tough Dog offers a selection of up to three spring rate options for most applications, allowing for tailored performance based on your vehicle's specific setup.
Each spring is precision mandrel and die-formed, oil quenched, hardened, and tempered to guarantee longevity. A military wrap is standard across all part numbers, ensuring added strength and reliability. The springs are accurately heat-treated and constructed from high-grade spring steel, with anti-friction pads included in most applications to enhance performance.
Pre-stressed to maintain optimal ride height, these leaf springs undergo rigorous load rate testing to ensure they meet the demands of various applications. If your vehicle is equipped with additional accessories, Tough Dog provides different spring rates to accommodate constant load scenarios.
Approximate raised height ranges from 40-50mm, with specific models designed for varying load capacities: BPN-010 for 0-300kg light load, BPN-010H for 300kg constant load, FS39M-LH and FS39M-RH for 500kg constant load on passenger and driver sides respectively, and FS38M-LH and FS38M-RH for constant GVM on both sides.
When selecting your leaf springs, it is advisable to pair left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) springs to create a complete set. Additionally, it is recommended to fit long travel shock absorbers when installing raised springs to optimize performance.
Constant load refers to weight that is permanently added to the vehicle, such as canopies, steel trays, draw systems, fridges, toolboxes, rear bars, or spare wheel carriers. Selecting the appropriate spring rate is crucial for achieving optimal load carrying capacity, ride quality, and ride height.
